Home base may be the only place where you can dine indoors with your dog (thanks, health code), but when the weather is warm, Philadelphia is full of patios where pups are welcome. Whether you're seeking a casual beer or snack or a full meal, there are plenty of spots around town to take your dog for an alfresco dinner—or lunch, or brunch, or beer.
Baril
Rittenhouse Square
A French restaurant's aesthetics and interior doesn't usually welcome in diners with their four-legged friends but at Baril, it's quite the contrary. Not only does it provide water bowls for dogs at its outdoor tables, but it also holds "Party with Pups" events with the PSPCA throughout the week. People are encouraged to bring their dogs to the event where they feature discounted drinks and bar bites for the owners and treats and doggie bags for the animals. The PSPCA also brings adoptable dogs to the event, so don't be surprised if you end up leaving with more than a hangover. At least it's going to a good cause.
Rouge
Rittenhouse Square
If Baril is packed then we suggest taking a short five minute walk over to Rogue on 18th street for some one-on-one time with your pooch. Established as the first restaurant in the neighborhood with sidewalk tables and seating, it's an ideal spot to visit on a warm afternoon. The servers will bring out water bowls and treats for the canines while you chow down on items like pommes frites, pan seared salmon, herb roasted chicken and more. In addition, there are plenty of drink options for you to enjoy including, cocktails, beer, wine and more.
Pizzeria Vetri
Rittenhouse Square/Logan Square
Widely revie as one of the best pizza joints in the city, Pizzeria Vetri doesn't disappoint with its mouthwatering pizza pies that include options like the Rittenhouse (lobster, crushed san marzano tomatoes, bufala mozzarella, garlic), Maurizio (rosemary, mozzarella, olive oil, sea salt), Quattro Formaggi (gorgonzola, mozzarella, scamorza, fontina) and more. But it's also one of the most accessible places to venture out to with a dog. Along with water and treats for your pooch, if you post an Instagram photo of your dog with the hashtag, #PVPups, you'll have a chance to win a $25 gift card to any of its locations in the city.
Uptown Beer Garden
Penn Center/Logan Square
Operating since May of this year, Uptown Beer Garden is the latest project by the team behind other popular Philly bars like Bru and Cinder. The new 9,000-square-foot space, complete with stringed lights and plenty of trees to provide shade, offers tons of seating for beer enthusiasts, curious onlookers and pooches . Not only are dogs welcome here but there is also an entire 'yappy hour' dedicated to these furry animals. Rumor has it that many of the staff members also bring in their dogs to work so don't take it personally if your dog ends up leaving you behind to go and explore with his/her new friends.

The Trestle Inn
Spring Garden
The cocktail bar/dance club doesn't let you bring in dogs to its dance parties, but it does allow you to bring your pooch to the establishment, if you keep them outside. Along with water bowls and treats, the business also holds happy hours each month for its "Build The Rail Park" initiative. It's BYOD (bring your own dog) but if you don't have one of your own, the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) will have adoptable dogs on site, in addition to discounted drinks and bar bites from Trestle Inn.
White Dog Cafe
University City/
With 'dog' in its name, you can sure bet that the entire restaurant is adorned with whimsical artwork and decorations dedicated to these four-legged canines. Complete with a statue of a dog at its front door, the eatery allows your loyal companion to eat with you on its fenced in outdoor patio, whenever the weather allows. In addition to treats and water bowls, the business also takes part in local charity events to raise money and awareness for pups that may need medical assistance or homes.
Square 1682
Rittenhouse Square
We all know that Square 1682's brunch menu is pretty dynamite but did you know that you're allowed to bring your furry animals with you to eat all summer long? The restaurant and bar has partnered up with the local SPCA to bring back its special BYOD (bring your own dog) brunch on the patio every weekend. There's a $6 doggy menu available for the pooches and discounted drinks for the owners. For every purchase, Square 1682 donates a $1 to the SPCA and Tito's Vodka will match the donation amount. If you don't have a dog of your own don't fret as the SPCA will have adoptable pups available on site every third Sunday until September.
