A new pub and brewery has debuted in the neighborhood. Called The Stalking Horse Brewery & Freehouse, the fresh addition is located at 10543 W Pico Blvd. in West Los Angeles.
"The Stalking Horse Brewery and Freehouse combines traditional Cornish fare with an onsite craft brewery in a welcoming British pub setting," with a rotating selection of beers, a full bar, and pub food on hand, according to the new business.
Look for brews like the Smog City Little Bo Pils, Firestone Walker Pale 31, and the "Alpine Duet" IPA on the beer menu, along with a stout, porter, brown ale and barleywine option.
On the food side, expect items like traditional Cornish pasties as well as an Indian-inspired tikka masala pasty made with chicken breast, chickpeas, carrot, and masala sauce. There's a selection of pub starters, too, like the Welsh rarebit (melty pub cheese, chives, crisp bread) and Yorkshire pudding (roasted hen of the woods, onion gravy).
There's also a traditional fish and chips made with Alaskan cod, and the "Stalking Horse Burger" (smoked bacon, pickled onion, blue stilton, rocket, aioli). Vegan dishes are also available.(You can see the full menu here.)
With a 4.5-star rating out of three reviews on Yelp so far, the new arrival has been warmly received by patrons.
Brad G., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on September 6th, said: "WHAT?!?! ONLY 5 STARS!!?!? A group of 4 of us came to the Stalking Horse to see what all the hype was about. It can be tough being a vegan and going out with friends who don't eat vegan."
Yelper Bea N. added: “I was very impressed with the new space and the friendliness of the staff. Things were a little chaotic and but I suppose that's to be expected given I went on their first day in business.”
And Kenny C. said: "Wow! Super thrilled to welcome The Stalking Horse in the neighborhood. The space is beautiful and the food sounds delicious. Family-friendly plus a focus on craft beer? Sign me up!"
