A new spot to score ice cream has debuted in the neighborhood. The new arrival to Mar Vista, called Small Batch Ice Cream, is located at 12222 Venice Blvd.
Small Batch’s newest location is a standalone concept—taking over the former Sweet Lucie’s ice cream shop—and comes from Top Chef contestant Brooke Williamson and husband/business partner Nick Roberts. The couple also owns South Bay eateries Hudson House, The Tripel, Tripli-Kit and Da Kikokiko.
The creamery has a rotating selection of flavors served in a cone, cup, sandwich or milkshake form, with a variety of toppings to choose from, like fruity pebbles and chocolate syrup. Look for ice cream flavors like banana cream pie, chocolate malted crunch, linzel tart, Thai tea, and of course, vanilla.
Small Batch also has pints of ice cream on offer to take away and enjoy at home.
With a five-star rating out of four reviews on Yelp so far, Small Batch Ice Cream has already made a good impression.
Gregory G., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on September 9th, said: "Stopped by on way to USC football to see how Brooke ( Top chef) Williamson is doing with her newest eatery and it's a cute ice cream shop near Venice- Mar Vista."
Yelper Patrick L. added: “There seem to be more and more artisan ice cream stores opening around the mar vista/culver city area and and Small Batch is rising to the top.”
And Matt B. said: "The outdoor patio is a great cute spot to enjoy your delicious ice cream. I thoroughly enjoyed the linzel tart flavor and it was great on top of a regular cone."
