A new Japanese spot has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Called Teinei, the new arrival is located at 1256 Republican St. (between N Pontius Ave & N Yale Ave) in Cascade.

Teinei—which roughly translates to "polite"—specializes in elevated traditional Japanese fare. On the menu, expect to see a variety of dishes ranging from ramen noodles to yakitori to sushi.

Look for shoyu ramen, a Japanese standard with house-made noodles in a soy broth topped with char siu and veggies; an array of yakitori skewers along with grilled vegetables; salmon skin makizushi rolls, and more.

Rounding the menu out are sides like gyoza, edamame, and green tea mochi for dessert. There are Japanese beers on draft as well. (You can check out a sample menu here.)

Teinei has gotten an enthusiastic response thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of two reviews on Yelp.

Kristenelle C., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on October 17th, said: "The shio ramen with homemade noodles was really tasty and the staff was super friendly. Plus $3 Kirin on draft! My husband and I will be coming here frequently."

Yelper Sarah B. added: “As a resident of the building this place is in, we've been anxiously awaiting its opening! So far, so good! We went on the first day of opening, so obviously they had some kinks to work out, but the staff is friendly and the food is good!”

Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Teinei is open weekdays from 11am–2pm, and Monday–Saturday from 5pm–9pm.
