A new cat cafe has made its debut in the neighborhood. The new arrival to Capitol Hill, called Neko, is located at 519 E Pine St. (between Summit Ave. & Belmont Ave.)

The owners of Neko (Japanese for "cat") have partnered with Regional Animal Services of King County (RASKC) to link patrons with an array of adoptable cats. Guests can come to the café to lounge around with featured happy hour specials, hold private parties in one of the cat rooms, or simply make a reservation to play with the many cats at any time. (You can meet some of the cats at the café here.)

There are no age limits at the café; however, children require the accompaniment of an adult. If all that cat playtime makes you hungry or thirsty, Neko also offers coffee, beer, wine, and "light nibbles."

The cat cafe has already attracted fans thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of seven reviews on Yelp.

Erin K., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on November 8th, said: "Had a fantastic experience here! Beautiful, inviting space. When your time slot comes up, they let you into the kitty room. All of the cats were super chilled out and let you pet them."

Yelper Sarah K. added: “Wow...just wow. I have been waiting for Neko to open since I read about it earlier this year. I was not disappointed, not one bit! If you like cats, wine, supporting small businesses and Japanese vibes, you will 1000% love this space. ”

And Mindy F. said: "Cute shop, adorable cats, though I wouldn't go expecting to adopt a cat until they are more established."

Head on over to check it out: NEKO: A Cat Cafe is open Monday–Thursday from 10am–9pm, Friday from 10am–10pm, Saturday from 9am–10pm, and Sunday from 9am–9pm.
