If you've got Japanese on the mind, a recent opening is need-to-know. Located at 450 S Western Ave. in Koreatown, the new addition is called Mimimyunga.

Mimimyunga—which originally got its start in Sinsa-dong Garosugil, South Korea—specializes in Japanese-style gakesoba dishes, made with buckwheat noodles.

On the menu, expect to see a variety of hot and cold soba noodle options, like cold soba with uni and sweet shrimp, anago (sea eel) and tempura, and hot soba with uni and yamaimo (mountain yam).

You can also order hot or cold plain soba, then customize it with an array of toppings like egg, tempura, beef, shrimp, tofu, veggies, and more.

With a 4.5-star rating out of six reviews on Yelp so far, Mimimyunga is on its way to developing a local fan base.

Karina K., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on October 23rd, said: "Mimimyunga has arrived from Garosugil in Seoul! They are now open as a soft opening, so go taste their soba! Their special soba has uni and sweet shrimp in the soba."

Yelper Michelle Y. added: “Cold soba + boiled egg + chasiu = Perfect! This is a great Japanese soba place with reasonable price. The texture of the noodle is extraordinary, and the broth and eggs are very flavorful."

And Jae W. C. said: "This is probably my favorite soba in town. Their cold soba is amazing. There is something special or secret on their noodles. It is totally different from regular Japanese cold soba."

Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Mimimyunga is open daily from 11:30am–9pm.
