Craving ice cream and frozen yogurt? You're in luck: a new business has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Called Bengees Ice Cream, the newcomer is located at 2134 Sunset Blvd. in Echo Park.

This creamery, whose original location is in Pasadena, is owned by Foulay Saelor, who named it for his son, Benjamin. It offers both traditional and vegan ice cream, with the latter sourced from vendor Divine Dips.

On the traditional side, ice cream lovers can expect options like brown butter English toffee, chocolate-covered strawberry, Kahlua truffle, black sesame, and churro. The vegan lineup includes the likes of tiramisu, matcha, mango lassi, and mint chip.

In addition to the standard cups and cones, Bengees' scoops can be enjoyed in an ice-cream stuffed cronut, or topped with marshmallow fluff, salty caramel almond brittle, or white chocolate drizzle, among other options.

With a 4.5-star rating out of two reviews on Yelp so far, Bengees Ice Cream seems to be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

Gia T., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on December 2nd, said: "Nice ice cream for a cold winter night. It's in a terrific spot, Sunset and Alvarado, and and wait for it...with a PARKING LOT!"

Yelper Brian G. added: “It's finally open!! Ice cream fiends in Echo Park can enjoy the newest ice creamery on the block and the ice cream is gooood. It was terribly difficult to limit the choices."

Head on over to check it out: Bengees Ice Cream is open daily from noon–10pm.
