A new breakfast and brunch spot, offering coffee and tea and more, has made its debut in the neighborhood. Called Pollen, the fresh arrival is located at 2100 Echo Park Ave. in Echo Park.

Pollen is the first US eatery from Happy Fat Group, an Australian-based restaurant company known for its pubs and casual cafes. It's located in the former Fix Coffee space, which closed earlier this year.

For drinks, expect to see an array of popular coffee and espresso mainstays, like pour-overs, lattes, mochas, cappuccinos, and more.

If you're stopping by for breakfast or brunch, look for dishes like "Dippy Eggs"— soft-boiled eggs served with Yukon gold potatoes and crispy leeks for dunking. There's also bircher muesli with apple, blood orange, dates, and candied seeds; and crispy-fried eggs and polenta with sofrito (a Caribbean tomato sauce), braised mushrooms, and baguette.

Switching over to lunch, there are specials such as organic roast chicken salad with winter squash, almond hummus, and arugula; the "Aspen Ridge Cheeseburger" with bordelaise and "potato soldiers," and pan-seared king salmon with kale, chard, cabbage, herbs, and a salsa verde vinaigrette.

While the restaurant is currently serving breakfast and lunch items only, expect to see dinner service added in the near future.

Pollen has already attracted fans thus far, with a five-star rating out of seven reviews on Yelp.

Marty M., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on December 14th, said: "Sensational food and delicious coffee at a venue that offers fantastic service and a welcoming atmosphere. I had searched all over L.A. for good coffee, and found greatness at Pollen!"

Yelper Halie R. added: “Pollen is exactly what the hills of Echo Park has been needing! A relaxed atmosphere with amazing coffee, food and baked goods. They have completely transformed the old Fix coffee space.”

And Evan M. said: "Oh yes, buddy, this is a major come-up for the neighborhood. The old Fix got a makeover, and is wildly handsome, sun-dappled, etc. Pastries are flakier than your friend Candace."

Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Pollen is open daily from 7am–4pm.
