A new Korean spot has opened its doors in the neighborhood. The fresh arrival to Koreatown, called To Soc Chon, is located at 356 S Western Ave.

To Soc Chon—which has other outposts in Illinois, New York, and New Jersey—specializes in traditional Korean comfort food with an Asian-fusion twist.

On the menu, expect to see a variety of soups, BBQ dishes, entrees, and the ubiquitous banchan (small plates of side dishes).

Look for items like soon dae guk, an ox-bone soup with Korean sausage, rice and noodles; sundubo, a soft tofu based soup with a choice of beef, chicken or seafood; BBQ galbi marinated beef ribs; bibimbob with veggies, egg and beef; and jap chae pan-fried noodles with veggies and beef. (You can check out the New York location's menu here, to get an idea of what to expect.)

To Soc Chon has already attracted fans thus far, with a five-star rating out of five reviews on Yelp.

Anna K., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on October 31st, said: "Clean new atmosphere with very friendly staff. Came here to have lunch with friend. Totally clean and quiet vibe with dishes that match the interior. Food comes out fast and fresh."

Yelper Hyerin P. added: “I'm familiar with this restaurant from the East Coast. They are originally from NY area and they have more stores in other states also, such as Chicago, Virginia, Maryland, New York, and New Jersey."

And Cindy P. said: "One of the best food spots in KTown I've been to so far. They definitely know authenticity of Korea. I was never a huge fan of soondae until I have tried it here!"
