Itching to check out the freshest new spots in Central Fresno? From a gastropub to a smoothie bar, read on for a rundown of the newest destinations to open for business in this Fresno neighborhood.

HoP PK

Offering craft beer and Middle Eastern eats, HoP PK is a collaboration between local craft brewery House of Pendragon and Mediterranean spot Pita Kabob, which has two locations in Visalia. 

On the food side, you'll find traditional and cilantro-jalapeño hummus platters, gyro fries (topped with gyro meat, grilled onions, grilled serrano peppers, melted cheese, garlic sauce, pepperoncini and spicy tahini), falafel pita wraps and much more. There are also rice bowls, kebab combos and burgers. 

For beer, House of Pendragon is offering both its own brews (like Winterfest marzen, Tatooine Sunset IPA and Fulcrum double IPA) and selections from other craft breweries, like Santa Maria Brewing's chocolate porter and Almanac Brewing's Flanders red ale. HoP PK currently holds four stars out of 160 reviews on Yelp, indicating good reviews.

Yelper Mat T., who reviewed HoP PK on April 11, wrote, "This place has an awesome setting, vibe and atmosphere. Super excited to have another great place downtown!"

And Lorraine C. said, "I've been here many, many times now and get happier each time I come ... It has such a chill vibe and the rustic decor is illuminating. Staff was friendly and communicated well."  

HoP PK is open Monday–Thursday from 11 a.m.–9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m.–midnight, and Sunday from 11 a.m.–8 p.m.

Uptown Nutrition

Juice and smoothie bar Uptown Nutrition features a variety of healthy meal replacement options for folks on the go.

There are nutritious shakes and a selection of herbal teas like mango, vanilla chai, green tea and cranberry, as well as aloe shots in four different flavors. The business also offers bioelectrical impedance analysis, or body scans, to determine customer-specific nutrition plans. 

Yelp users are excited about Uptown Nutrition, which currently holds 4.5 stars out of three reviews on the site.

Yelper Cristal B., who reviewed Uptown Nutrition on Nov. 17, wrote, "This is my favorite place to go when I want to get healthy and lose weight. It's a really friendly, comfortable environment. If you're serious about getting healthy and in shape, I highly recommend Uptown Nutrition."

And Crystal R. added, "Very nice shop to come get a delicious, healthy meal in form of a smoothie or an energizing tea to get you through your day!"

Uptown Nutrition is open weekdays from 8:45 a.m.–2:45 p.m., and Saturday from 10:30 a.m.–2 p.m. (It's closed on Sunday.)

Emberlight Electric Service

Emberlight Electric Service, owned by Keith Chastain, is a contracting company that specializes in electrical installations.
