Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the best high-end French restaurants around Charlotte, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of the best spots to fill the bill.

1. The Fig Tree Restaurant

Topping the list is The Fig Tree Restaurant. Located at 1601 E. Seventh St. in Elizabeth, the modern American, French and Italian spot is the highest-rated high-end French restaurant in Charlotte, boasting 4.5 stars out of 347 reviews on Yelp. The menu changes regularly, reflecting seasonal ingredients. 

Diners can expect offerings like Burgundy Helix escargot with bacon, leeks, tomatoes and cremini mushrooms in a garlic-lemon brown butter on crostini; sautéed North Carolina trout with Alaskan king crab, pancetta and spring peas; and grilled New Zealand elk chop with horseradish spaetzle, and smoked bacon-braised purple cabbage.

2. Lumiere French Kitchen

Also in Elizabeth is Lumiere French Kitchen, situated at 1039 Providence Road. With 4.5 stars out of 139 reviews on Yelp, the French spot has proven to be a local favorite for those looking to indulge.

On the menu, look for offerings like Maine lobster bisque with brand and a puff pastry; Black Angus beef tartare with Fennel, coriander, barrel aged cardinal gin gastrique; and duck a'lOrange with roasted turnips, yellow beets and spinach. (Take a look at the menu here.)

3. Georges Brasserie

Georges Brasserie, a French spot in South Park, is another fancy go-to, with four stars out of 336 Yelp reviews. The restaurant offers brunch, lunch and dinner service, as well as a happy hour.

For lunch, Georges serves casual fare like a French dip sandwich with au jus and a vegetable crepe with mushrooms, spinach and tomatoes. Dinner is when the brasseries offers heartier entrées like seared scallops with a miso glaze, North Carolina mountain trout with smoked eggplant and asparagus couscous and filet mignon with béarnaise and frites. 4. Aix en Provence

Back in Elizabeth, check out Aix en Provence, which has earned 4.5 stars out of 43 reviews on Yelp. Treat yourself at the Mediterranean, French and Italian spot — which offers lunch and dinner service — by heading over to 545 B Providence Road. 

On the menu, look for offerings that include lobster spaghetti with parmesan froth, lamb tagine with saffron couscous and preserved lemon, and charred Spanish octopus with picholine olives. (Take a look at the menu here.)

5. McNinch House Restaurant

Last but not least, there's McNinch House Restaurant, a Fourth Ward favorite for 22 years, which boasts four stars out of 61 reviews. The restaurant is popular with locals who are looking to celebrate milestone events or simply looking for an elegant meal. 

McNinch offers a seasonal menu, and for spring, the restaurant is serving duck confit raviolo with leeks, pickled red cabbage and truffle cream; a pan-roasted quail stuffed with wild rice and served with sautéed dandelion greens and artichoke purée; and filet mignon with mushroom and Gruyere cheese bread pudding. 

Stop by the turn-of-the-century Victorian home at 511 N. Church St. to visit the French, modern American and Southern spot.
