Longway Tavern is a new cocktail bar and French restaurant that recently opened at 719 Toulouse St. in the French Quarter.

It's owned by partners Robert LeBlanc and Liam Deegan, who also run the Lower Garden District's Barrel Proof. The tavern occupies one of the oldest buildings in the French Quarter, with a foundation dating back to 1794. According to its website, Longway aims to be a casual spot to grab a beer at the beginning of the night, or close out the evening with a nightcap.

Menu options include an arugula salad with artichoke, pickled red onion, spring veggies, sunflower and sherry vinegar, or a lamb leg roulade with spinach, roasted maitake mushrooms, chimichurri and jus. Pair your meal with one of a dozen cocktails, including a Sazerac made with Rittenhouse Rye, Peychaud’s and Angostura bitters, sugar and Herbsaint.

Mac and Moon

Stroll past 801 Magazine St. in the Warehouse District, and you'll find Mac and Moon, a new spot to score vegan macarons, bubble tea, ice cream and frozen yogurt.

San Francisco native Kristina Ostrom and New Jersey native Madisen Gill met in a Louisiana grocery store and experimented with ways to make a vegan macaron before launching in 2016 as a catering company, VegNews reports.

The duo dubs their vegan macarons "Karmacarons," offering them in a variety of flavors like key lime, cotton candy and birthday cake. Mac and Moon also sells chocolate-covered berries and vegan ice cream.
