Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top Greek restaurants around Washington, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of where to satisfy your cravings.

1. Zaytinya

Topping the list is Zaytinya. Located at 701 Ninth St. NW (at G Place NW) downtown, the longtime D.C. staple serves Greek, Turkish and Lebanese small plates and is the most popular Greek restaurant in Washington, boasting four stars out of 3,914 reviews on Yelp. Yelpers rave about chef Jose Andres' Turkish delight dessert and the roasted Brussels sprouts tossed with cranberries, dill, garlic and Greek yogurt.

2. Komi

Next up is Dupont Circle's Michelin-starred Komi, situated at 1509 17th St. NW (between P Street NW and Church Street NW). With 4.5 stars out of 690 reviews on Yelp, the upscale Greek spot has proven to be a local favorite. The restaurant serves a rotating prix fixe dinner menu of 12-15 courses for $150 per person, with an optional wine pairing menu for $85.

3. Greek Deli & Catering

Downtown's Greek Deli & Catering, located at 1120 19th St. NW (at Lingers Court NW), is at the opposite end of the scale in price, but not in quality. Yelpers give the Greek deli, which also serves breakfast and lunch, 4.5 stars out of 484 reviews, praising its avgolemono (lemon chicken soup), housemade Greek salad dressing, gyros and lamb platter.

4. Cava Mezze

Cava Mezze, a Greek and Mediterranean spot in Capitol Hill with a focus on seafood, is another high-traffic go-to, with four stars out of 1,241 Yelp reviews.

At the original location of the popular local chain, diners can expect to find its signature spicy lamb sliders, scallop and mushroom risotto and feta with jalapeño appetizer. 5. Kapnos

Last but not least, check out Kapnos over in the U Street Corridor, which has earned four stars out of 672 reviews on Yelp. Diners praise the melitzanosalata spread of smoked eggplant, roasted peppers, walnuts and feta, as well as the charred octopus with favosalata (yellow split pea dip), ramps, marinated tomatoes and harissa.

You can find the upscale Greek eatery, which specializes in small plates and offers brunch on weekends, at 2201 14th St. NW (between Florida Avenue NW and W Street NW).
