A bistro and bar serving New American fare has opened its doors in the Brush Park neighborhood. Located at 3148 Woodward Ave. on the ground level of The Scott, an upscale apartment building, the new arrival is called Empire Kitchen and Cocktails.

Featuring a 30-foot bar, four-season patio and garage-style doors that can be raised in summer, Empire offers signature cocktails and a lengthy wine list. The restaurant says on its Facebook page that it's the "perfect place to meet friends for drinks, take a carryout during the week or bring families downtown for dinner."

On the menu, look for a charcuterie board, spiced cauliflower appetizer with raisin chutney and yogurt sauce, homemade pizzas, roasted half chicken with crispy Brussels sprouts and pan-seared salmon with farro and asparagus. For dessert, try the monkey bread with vanilla glaze, brownie sundae or cast-iron skillet apple pie.

With a 4.5-star rating out of six reviews on Yelp so far, the newcomer seems to be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

"Absolutely beautiful restaurant! Garage door patio with a beautiful interior and awesome atmosphere!" said Razu C., who was among the first to review the new restaurant on May 15. "Foods and drink are amazing! Soon as we pulled up we were greeted warmly from valet to hostess to our table. Highly recommend this place before a game, business dinner or just a night out in town!"

And Stephanie N. said, "Gorgeous addition in the the Brush Park area. Impeccable service, exceptional food across the board and a chic yet casual vibe. Definitely our new favorite!"
