Hungry? A new neighborhood Korean spot has you covered. The new addition to Garfield, called Soju, is located at 4923 Penn Ave. and comes courtesy of Pittsburgh native Simon Chough.

The family-owned restaurant says on its website that it specializes in "creating traditional Korean dishes with an American twist."

Look forward to classics like kimchi pancakes, Korean sushi rolls, dumplings,  barbecue short ribs, bulgogi (thin slices of grilled meat), katsu (panko-breaded fried chicken) plus Hawaiian poke with ahi tuna or octopus. The drink menu includes an assortment of cocktails, draft beers, artisanal ales and wines.

With a four-star rating out of 20 reviews on Yelp, Soju is getting positive feedback so far.

Abigail U., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on April 29, said, "Best new restaurant in Pittsburgh. The pork mandu is a quick, delightful appetizer. The homemade cheesecake was light and airy with great taste. Can't wait to go back to the friendly atmosphere and enjoy some of the handcrafted cocktails."

Yelper George G. added, “The chef, owner and the staff have created a place where the food, the drinks and the atmosphere are truly incredible! The restaurant was packed but the hostess went out of her way to find us comfortable seats. And the food ... you won't be disappointed! Everything is made from scratch from what is obviously the freshest available!”

Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Soju is open from 5–10 p.m. from Tuesday-Thursday and 5 p.m.–midnight on Friday and Saturday. (It's closed on Monday and Sunday.)
