Frankie and Jo's

Frankie and Jo's is a spot to score vegan and gluten-free ice cream, sorbets and more.

This popular creamery's new Ballard location is its second in the Seattle area; the original is in Capitol Hill. Specializing in scoops made with cashew and coconut milk and gluten-free cones, Frankie and Jo's offers its customers 13 different daily flavors to choose from, with a mix of "everyday" and seasonal offerings like salty caramel ash, molten chocolate cake and dandelion pistachio.

Yelp users are generally positive about Frankie and Jo's, which currently holds four stars out of 25 reviews on the site.

Yelper Fiona X., who reviewed Frankie and Jo's on May 9, wrote, "First of all, I had no clue this place was vegan. I couldn't tell after I ate the ice cream either. But I will say that I may have a new favorite ice cream spot."

Yelper Daren D. wrote, "What a charming, warm and chic ice cream dessert shop with a subtle 1960s-70s vibe! The decor is consistent with the original spot: cool funky cacti floral wallpaper, decorative concrete screen blocks, dominant bright white paint and peach doors."

Blackball Desserts

Taiwanese dessert chain Blackball Desserts is a spot to score bubble tea and shaved ice, along with Asian desserts like matcha pudding or purple sticky rice. Options include milk and grass jelly, matcha tea with cheese foam, or lychee green tea.

Organic teas also make an appearance on Blackball Desserts' menu, as do smoothies and other specialty drinks.

With a three-star rating out of 11 reviews on Yelp, Blackball Desserts is still finding its way, but it's early days.

Yelper Brenda L., who reviewed Blackball Desserts on April 29, wrote, "This is a new location for Blackball, located in the heart of Chinatown ... I got the passionfruit green tea with boba, and it was just as tasty as their other location in Washington!"

Ting B. added, "This is one of my favorite dessert places. It tastes healthy and delicious. I would definitely come back, and the atmosphere was good. I love the black sesame topping."

Blackball Desserts is open from 11 a.m.–10 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday and 11 a.m.–midnight on Friday and Saturday.

Full Tilt Ice Cream

Full Tilt Ice Cream is an arcade, offering ice cream, frozen yogurt and more. Featuring both new and vintage arcade games and pinball machines, this funky spot recently opened its fifth location in Capitol Hill; other outposts can be found in Columbia City, Ballard, the U-District, and near the White Center. 

Full Tilt offers an eclectic mix of frozen treats, with a menu of 14 standard ice cream flavors and two vegan flavors. Options range from classic (dark chocolate, strawberry) to eclectic (ube, Blue Moon). It also serves Pacific Northwest beer and sodas.

Yelp users are generally positive about the newest location of Full Tilt, which currently holds four stars out of 16 reviews on the site.

Yelper Huong L., who was one of the first users to visit Full Tilt Ice Cream on April 20, wrote, "I absolutely love Full Tilt and was super stoked that they opened another store. I finally was in the area and forced my friend to join me."

Jenny T. added, "You know the ice cream is good when you crave extra scoops in the middle of winter. I don't even like ice water in summer, but this ice cream? I'd gladly devour it in the North Pole."
