A new restaurant and bar has opened its doors in Highland Park. Located at 9609 1/2 16th Ave. SW, the fresh arrival is called Dottie's Double Wide.

Themed after vintage trailers (complete with a repurposed trailer front door and kitchen pass), Dottie's comes from the owners of Drunky Two Shoes BBQ. It features a casual menu of eclectic Tex-Mex tacos, loaded hot dogs, nachos and chips and salsa. A selection of beer and spirits are available to pair with any plate.

The wood-paneled space is colorful and funky, with black velvet paintings lining the walls and a sound system for DJs and record parties.

Dottie's Double Wide has gotten off to a mixed start thus far, with a three-star rating out of six reviews on Yelp.

Carla M., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on May 8, said, "We checked out the soft opening of this place and so far, we love it. We've already been back a few times after our first visit. It's an interesting bar with a cool atmosphere, and so far great drinks and good food."

Yelper Kris C. added, “This place is great. Cool hole-in-the-wall spot with good food and nice service. My friends and I look forward to frequenting this place more.”
