Elzhi with Khrysis and 60 East, Tapes-One2, Livio, Doughkain, King Pulse

Detroit hip-hop star Elzhi, who's recorded tracks with J Dilla, Kanye West and John Legend, among others, is coming to town this week. He'll be joined by producer Khrysis, with whom he recently recorded an album under the moniker Jericho Jackson.

"Elzhi has long been recognized as one of the premier lyricists in hip-hop. However, his sporadic output of music has often left fans wanting more, especially in an era where rappers are churning out new music on a near-weekly basis," writes Billboard of the duo. "Khrysis may not be a household name, but rest assured that you've heard his production, as he’s worked with everyone from Sean Price and Jean Grae to Little Brother and Masta Ace."

When: Tuesday, June 19, 7 p.m.- Wednesday, June 20, 1 a.m.
Where: Nectar Lounge, 412 North 36th St.

Stories of Resilience: The Formerly Incarcerated, Drug Addicts and Society’s Castaways

"When we see the homeless and addicted on the streets, can we imagine being them? Do we believe the homeless and addicted will ever live and thrive surrounded by family and community? Do we realize that they already do?" These are the questions posed by this provocative community event, which aims to help those who've overcome addiction, trauma and incarceration "come out of the closet" and share their stories.

Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to What's Next Washington, which aims to reduce prison recidivism and "replace mass incarceration with anti-racist solutions that work better for everyone."

When: Wednesday, June 20, 6-8 p.m.
Where: Impact Hub Seattle, 220 2nd Ave. S.
Admission: $10
