Looking to try the top diners in town?

Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the best affordable diners in Detroit, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of  where to venture for coney dogs, gyros, waffles and more.

1. Lafayette Coney Island

Topping the list is downtown's Lafayette Coney Island. Located at 118 W. Lafayette Blvd., the no-frills Detroit staple is the highest rated budget-friendly diner in the city, boasting four stars out of 757 reviews on Yelp.

Famous for its coney dogs topped with chili, onions, mustard and cheese, it sits next door to legendary rival American Coney Island (which has a 3.5-star rating). Other menu offerings include the chili cheese fries, gyro sandwiches, chicken wings and bowls of chili. Not one item on the menu is over $8.

2. Duly's Place

Next up is southwest Detroit's Duly's Place, situated at 5458 W. Vernor Highway. With 4.5 stars out of 108 reviews on Yelp, the nearly century-old establishment has proven to be a local favorite for those looking for a low-priced option.

"Duly's is the epitome of bang for your buck," Yelper Katie M. said. "We enjoyed our late-night stop for breakfast and some chili cheese fries. This hole in the wall is clearly a Detroit institution where you can get as much food as your heart desires quickly and cheaply."

3. Ham Shop Cafe
