A new spot to score ice cream, frozen yogurt and desserts has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Located at 115 Meyran Ave. in Central Oakland, the fresh arrival is called Insomnia Cookies.
As the name suggests, Insomnia Cookies is open late, and delivers warm cookies as late as a.m. The shop was founded in a college dorm room in 2003, and just recently opened up brick-and-mortar locations in Pittsburgh, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Try traditional cookies like chocolate chunk, snickerdoodle, oatmeal raisin or peanut butter chip, or opt for deluxe cookies such as peanut butter chocolate chunk or s'mores. Brownies and "cookiewiches" -- two cookies with ice cream in the middle-- are also available. Pick up a single cookie at the store, or grab six, 12, 18 or 24 combos in house or have them delivered.
Insomnia Cookies has gotten a mixed response from its clientele.
Sarah W., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on May 1, said, "This is an in-store review. I haven't ordered delivery from here yet. Overall, fast and friendly service and warm cookies with a variety of different flavors. They're open until 3 a.m."
Yelper Erica S. added, “Cookies were very good. I got the cookiewich (two cookies with ice cream in the middle). There was was literally two tablespoons of ice cream in the center."
Head on over to check it out: Insomnia Cookies is open from 9–3 a.m. on weekdays and 11–3 a.m. on weekends.
