A new laundromat has opened its doors in the neighborhood. The new addition to South Dorchester, called Soak Laundry Center, is located at 2259 Dorchester Ave.
Those used to gathering quarters for a load of laundry will enjoy Soak's state-of-the-art features, including a smartphone app that allows customers to pay for their loads, check machine availability and get notifications when a wash or dry cycle is completed.
The laundromat features Continental washers and dryers, which it claims are up to three times faster than traditional models. A vending machine dispenses essentials like soap and fabric softener, and free wifi and cable TV service are available to customers while they wait.
It's still early days for the fledgling business—it's got just one review on Yelp thus far.
Robin Z., who was the first Yelper to review the new spot on May 9, said, "Great new aundromat in Dorchester Lower Mills! Very, very clean and super fast machines. Terrific location, too!"
