Latina Circle: Leveraging Our Cultural Identity as an Asset

In March 2018, Latina Circle hosted a lively panel discussion on the "State of Latinos and Race in Massachusetts." Now, the group is following that up with a salon-style discussion on "how our cultural identity benefits our work and how to leverage it as an asset in the workplace, in the boardroom and on the playground."

According to the organizers, "participants will learn how race has shaped structural inequalities, how bias shows up in our behaviors and in groups and organizations, and how to reshape our behaviors to honor our cultural identity. Participants will also leave with a shared language on cultural identity as an asset and driver of innovation, and for having constructive conversations around difference."

When: Wednesday, June 27, 6-8:30 p.m.
Where: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, 101 Huntington Ave.., Floor 12
Admission: Free

AAUW Work Smart: Negotiating Workshop For Women

Women working full-time in the United States are typically paid 80 percent of what white men are paid — and the gap widens further for women of color. This two-hour workshop from the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and the Roxbury Innovation Center aims to change that.

Women will learn how to quantify and articulate their value, determine a fair salary through market research, and strategically ask for a raise. They will also have an opportunity to practice their negotiation skills at the workshop itself.

When: Wednesday, June 27, 6-8 p.m.
Where: Roxbury Innovation Center, 2300 Washington St..
Admission: Free
