Jazz on Jackson Place: July 12th

In its twelfth season, the Jazz on Jackson Place concert series is hosting internationally renowned bassist Adi Meyerson. The New York-based performer is "enthralling, full of punch and panache," according to DownBeat Magazine.

Summer Evenings at the National Arboretum: Mark G. Meadows & the Movement

DC-based Meadows is a multi-talented composer, musician and most recently actor coming to the National Arboretum's summer concert series held beneath the Capitol Columns. "There’s something for everyone in his music, which harmonizes pop, gospel, R&B, hip hop, funk, and jazz," according to the event description. "With his lyrics, suffused with meaning, and his velvet voice, Meadows cuts through the noise to speak to all."

When: Thursday, July 12, 7-8:30 p.m.

Akua Allrich & The Tribe

DC native Akua Allrich is a vocalist and composer with a global approach to jazz. "Allrich’s style is fluid and ever-evolving. Her musical roots run deeply into blues, soul and rhythm and blues, with a clear grounding in jazz and pan-African music," according to the event description. "She sings in many languages including Portuguese, French, Spanish, English, Xhosa, and Twi. Given her ability to capture the essence of a broad range of musical genres, Allrich is often likened to legendary artists such as Oscar Brown, Jr., Miriam Makeba and Nina Simone."
