Love & Pie

Topping the list is Love & Pie, a spot to score pizza, salads, wraps appetizers and more.

Get ready for ubiquitous toppings like sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, black olives, jalapeños, pineapple and parmesan. Appetizers include cheesy jalapeño breadsticks, boudin balls and Buffalo wings.

With a 3.5-star Yelp rating out two reviews, Love & Pie is still finding its way, but it's early days.

"One of the best pizzas I've ever had," Yelper Noah B. wrote. "I had the Cajun persuasion which was to die for. The shrimp and the sausage were amazing and could have been eaten by themselves, but coupled with the great ingredients on the pizza you have one of the best ever."

Yelper Troy K. noted, "The pizza was a cheaply made crust with a bare minimum of cheese and marinara. The other ingredients didn't make up for the poor base and they were clumped together."

Love & Pie is open from 11 a.m.–11 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday and 11 a.m.–1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.

The Praline Connection Express

Next up is The Praline Connection Express, a soul food, Cajun/Creole and New American spot.

With its original location on Frenchmen Street near the Blue Nile, this location offers a slightly different menu featuring classic Creole fare like stuffed bell peppers, pork chops, barbecued rib tips, baked chicken and smoked sausage. The restaurant serves oyster, shrimp, roast beef, and shrimp po'boys — and offers sides like fried chicken livers, gumbo, and fried okra.

The Praline Connection Express currently holds a Yelp rating of one star out of four reviews, but it's early days.

"The food was bad and overpriced, and the service was rude and slow," Yelper James M. wrote. "If I were the owners of a famous spot like the Praline Connection, I would not want my name attached to this establishment."

Yelper Nadiyah S. noted, "Eat here if you have a tolerance for a high stress environment and mediocre soul food. Terrible customer service, terrible food, and they were out of half the menu items.

The Praline Connection's hours are not currently listed online.

Coffee Science

And last but not least is Coffee Science, a new spot to score coffee and tea and more.

The menu at this new coffee shop boasts a selection of hot beverages like espresso, cappuccino, lattes, flat whites, mochas and chai tea — as well as iced options like Venetian and Bavarian cream, frosted mochas, tea, Americanos and blended fruit smoothies.

Coffee Science's current rating of 4.5 stars out of 26 reviews on Yelp indicates positive attention from users.

"Some of the top coffee in New Orleans," Yelper Chad C. wrote. "The space is nice and airy and the owner is a gem. The coffee is outstanding and surprisingly well priced compared to other shops in town."

Yelper Lindsey E. noted, "Super cute spot with really great coffee. I am a sucker for a new coffee shop. The location is clean and modern and plays to the concept of "coffee science" by displaying test tubes and beakers. It's very creative, and I believe my barista was wearing a lab coat."

Coffee Science is open from 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m.–5 p.m. on weekends.
