Looking to satisfy your appetite for Greek cuisine?

Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the best affordable Greek restaurants around Boston, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of where to venture when you're craving gyros, spanakopita, baklava and more.

1. Zo Greek

Topping the list is Zo Greek, near the Government Center downtown. This popular counter spot at 3 Center Plaza is the highest-rated cheap Greek restaurant in Boston, boasting 4.5 stars out of 338 reviews on Yelp. It has two other outposts at Faneuil Hall and Assembly Row.

Customers in the fast-moving line order gyros topped with rich tzatziki sauce, spanakopita (spinach pie) and dolmadakia (stuffed grape leaves). Other options include Greek and Mediterranean salads and a rotating selection of soups (lamb chili, gazpacho, veggie lentil and more).

Primarily a takeout spot, there's a small area for seating.

2. Flame Cafe & Catering

Next up is Flame Cafe & Catering, situated at 2 Oliver St. in the Financial District.

Specializing in Greek and Armenian cuisines, the eatery features gyros made with marinated lamb, chicken or pork on pita bread or on low-calorie Armenian lavash flatbread. Also available are salads, kebabs, baked eggplant and baklava.

With 4.5 stars out of 92 reviews on Yelp, it has proven to be a local favorite for those looking for a low-priced option.

3. Gyro City

Gyro City, located at 88 Peterborough St. (between Kilmarnock and Jersey streets) in the Fenway area, is another top choice, with Yelpers giving it four stars out of 274 reviews.

Those spinning meat towers mean gyros, served here on a white or wheat pita with french fries, tomatoes, onions and parsley. There's also souvlaki, a Greek burger (pork and beef mixture) and a rice bowl, in addition to salads, sides (like fries topped with feta and oregano) and a chicken soup with egg, lemon and rice.

There is limited seating both indoors and out.

4. Effie's Kitchen

Effie's Kitchen, a Greek spot in Roslindale, is another much-loved, affordable go-to, with 4.5 stars out of 57 Yelp reviews.

This little family-run cafe serves traditional dishes from Thessaloniki, the Greek hometown of proprietor Efthymia “Effie” Anastasiadis, according to the Boston Globe. Look for hot spinach and feta cheese pies, grilled chicken salads, gyros and souvlaki.

Head over to 37 Poplar St. (between Washington and Corinth streets) to try it for yourself.

5. Mama's Place

Finally, over in Mission Hill, check out Mama's Place, which has earned four stars out of 151 reviews on Yelp.

Gyros, Greek salad and spinach pie appear on the menu along with noteworthy items like a fish sandwich with homemade tartar sauce and a gyro burger. Non-Greek offerings include chicken broccoli Alfredo and a smoked turkey wrap.

Dig in by heading over to 764 Huntington Ave. (between Fenwood Road and Wait Street).
