1. Aladdin Sweets & Cafe

Topping the list is halal eatery Aladdin Sweets & Cafe. Located at 11945 Conant St. in Hamtramck, it's the highest rated Indian restaurant in the Detroit area, boasting four stars out of 101 reviews on Yelp. Offering a mix of Indian and Bangladeshi fare, the menu includes butter chicken, tikka masala, lamb korma, meat and veggie samosas, chotpoti, garlic naan, tandoori fish and more. 

"My girlfriend and I ate here for lunch and it proved to be the best dining decision we made during our stay in Detroit," wrote Yelp reviewer Nathan E. "We ate the chicken korma with rice and garlic naan, and all of it was incredibly good. The staff were nice and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal."

2. ZamZam Restaurant

On the same block, you'll find ZamZam Restaurant, situated at 11917 Conant St. in Hamtramck. With four stars out of 33 reviews on Yelp, the Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi spot has proven to be a local favorite.

Notable menu options include tandoori entrees with chicken, fish or lamb made in a traditional clay oven; shrimp masala cooked with onion and sliced tomato; and Chicken Dansak simmered with lentils and sweet and sour sauce. Appetizers, desserts, vegetarian entrees and sides round out this spot's menu. ZamZam also offers delivery and carryout. 

3. International Mini-Café

International Mini-Café, located at 111 E. Kirby near Wayne State, is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the Indian spot four stars out of 24 reviews. The casual restaurant offers a different soup every day of the week and serves up dishes for carnivores and vegetarians alike. Menu options include lamb biryani, chicken curry and potato and pea samosas.
