Evergreen Eatery
154 Green St.

Evergreen Eatery is a breakfast and brunch spot that comes from the folks who have long run the JP Seafood Cafe.
Located in the space formerly occupied by La Rana Rossa, Evergreen Eatery starts with American fare, like corned beef hash and egg, a Western omelet and BLT, and then moves into upscale options like avocado toast with salmon and capers and smoked pork belly steak with eggs.
Vegetarians and vegans are well taken care of with a veggie burger, Japanese seaweed salad, vegetarian croquettes and more.
Evergreen Eatery currently holds 3.5 stars out of four reviews on Yelp.
Yelper Melissa F., who reviewed it on July 7, wrote, "Had a wonderful breakfast here this morning. Everyone loved the food and two people even ordered a second time. Will come back again soon for sure."
Yelper G N. wrote, "The coffee and iced teas are excellent. The cookies are amazing and my vegan friend is so happy they have vegan options. The breakfast sandwich to go (egg, ham and cheese) was great and perfectly warm. There were ample high chairs, and the servers have always been so nice and enthusiastic."
Evergreen Eatery is open from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday. (It's closed on Monday.)
Little Dipper
669 Centre St.

Little Dipper is a daytime diner that was formerly the Centre Street Cafe. The revamped spot now has a space theme, with numerous small rockets hanging from the ceiling.
The menu is classic American, with pancakes and omelets, sides like bacon, sausage and hash browns, plus pastries and doughnuts. Some elevated fare is also on offer, like the Kitchen Sink salad (greens, roasted pollock, charred corn, crispy bacon, shaved red onion, radish, avocado and white balsamic vinaigrette).
The Little Dipper is off to a strong start with a five-star rating on Yelp based on five reviews.
Kelly O., who was the first Yelper to review the new spot on July 15, wrote, "Perfect little JP brunch spot, complete with tasty food and caring owners. Definitely add this place to your brunch rotation. It's small though, so make sure to plan ahead (especially as it gets more popular)."
Sara M. added, "The menu is great and I ordered a breakfast sandwich with avocado, potatoes, and fruit. The ice coffee comes in a little carafe with ice on the side. Everything was delicious. While I didn't try one my friends report the doughnuts are fantastic. "
Little Dipper is open from 9:30 a.m.–3 p.m. on Monday, Saturday and Sunday and 7:30 a.m.–3 p.m. on Tuesday-Friday.
Soup Shack
779 Centre St.

Next up, Soup Shack is a pan-Asian restaurant that specializes in regional soups from around the continent.
The Japanese ramen comes in four different broths and you can customize it with toppings. The Thai noodle soup likewise is done four different ways, including the no-broth ba-mi heang. The Vietnamese phở comes with beef, chicken or as the spicy phở sate. Rice bowls and sides round out the menu.
With a 4.5-star rating out of 13 reviews on Yelp, Soup Shack has been getting positive attention.
Yelper Marina W., who reviewed it on June 6, wrote, "I had the kao soi and that was fantastic. A quick note: a lot of the dishes are in pork broth or very pork heavy. So for my veg and non-pork eating friends, I'm sorry, but there isn't a hugely robust veg and non-pork menu available."
Yelper Christine C. wrote, "Great, cozy spot for noodles in JP. The place is set up like a small ramen bar. ... Service was great and quick. They have a decent selection of different ramen and phở."
Soup Shack is open from 11:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Friday and 11:30 a.m.-10:30 p.m. on the weekends.
Cloud-9 Float & Wellness
162 South St.

Finally, there's Cloud-9 Float & Wellness, a new spa that says it aims to address pain, anxiety and depression without drugs or invasive means.
Instead, the business uses alternative therapies like the sensory deprivation that comes from floating in a tank of epsom salt-laden water, a pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) to heal tissue or the infrared sauna that heats the body directly rather than by heating the air around you. Cloud-9 Float & Wellness is locally owned.
The wellness spa has received a warm welcome with a current rating of five stars out of 13 reviews on Yelp.
Yelper Jennifer C., who reviewed it on June 6, wrote, "This was my first time ever floating. It was a great experience. They were very friendly and helpful. I am definitely coming back with a family member. The place was super clean."
Jen L. noted, "From the moment I walked in and watched the video about what to expect to when I walked out the door at the end, it was perfect. The place is super clean and the woman working, who I assume is the owner, was just lovely."
Cloud-9 Float & Wellness is open from 9 a.m.–10 p.m. daily.
