A new Creole restaurant, offering seafood and more, has debuted in the neighborhood. Located at 901 Iberville St. in the French Quarter, the newcomer is called Mahony's Original Po-Boys & Seafood.

With an alternate location Uptown on Magazine Street, this new establishment specializes in classic New Orleans fare like red beans and rice with a side of smoked sausage; smothered redfish served with rice and vegetables; shrimp and grits; seafood gumbo; and scratch-made crawfish etouffée.

The restaurant also offers a weekend "boozy" brunch menu featuring items like shrimp and grits, grits and grillades, bananas Foster pain perdu, and bottomless Bloody Marys and mimosas.

With a four-star rating out of six reviews on Yelp so far, the new addition has gotten a good response.

"Just opened but really worth the bet," Yelper Vic L. said. "The waitstaff is great and the drinks are absolutely on point. Try the coconut mojito. The food was solid and really tasty."

Yelper Latasha W. added, "I can't remember the last time I had a catfish po'boy with fish that tender — probably never. It had lots of flavor, and the bread also had a beautiful crust. The onion rings were so good that I may be picky about my onion rings from now on."

Swing on by to take a peek for yourself. Mahony's Original Po-Boys & Seafood is open from 11 a.m.–10 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, and 11 a.m.–11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
