Fullblast Brunch is a breakfast, brunch, and lunch spot not too far from the southern tip of City Park near the Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots  — longtime site of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. 

Get ready for breakfast cocktails like mimosas, Bloody Marys, margaritas and Irish coffee plus dishes like three-egg omelets with potatoes and toast; herbed pork-roast Benedict with andouille potato hash; and French toast with bacon and blueberry compote. Lunch options include seared crabcakes, burgers and grilled fish with pecan bordelaise. 

Fullblast Brunch currently holds five stars out of two reviews on Yelp.

"Excellent location," Yelper D F., who reviewed the eatery on June 6, wrote. "Fullblast offers a variety of delicious options. I personally enjoyed the scrambled eggs with fluffy grits, and the team makes you feel right at home."

Molly S. noted, "Fullblast stepped up as the neighborhood's boozy brunch spot. I recommend the andouille Benedict. The coffee is great and the waitstaff is attentive without being obtrusive. Fullblast gets a lot of things right."

Piece Of Meat

Next up is Piece Of Meat, a butcher offering weekend brunch, dinner, sandwiches, appetizers, drinks and more. 

Keep an eye out for a selection of sandwiches including smoked brisket with pickled red onions and horseradish mayo; whole Italian sausage with slow-cooked peppers and onions; and smoked chicken salad with blueberry barbecue sauce. Side and snack options offered include boudin egg rolls with a mild Sriracha sauce; rubbed and smoked ribs; and a charcuterie board featuring the butcher's choice of five meats, pickles, mustard, almonds and toast points. 

With a 4.5-star rating out of 18 reviews on Yelp, Piece Of Meat has been getting positive attention.

"The variety of components and flavors just wowed us," Yelper Kelley T. wrote. "We definitely will be back to explore other menu items, steak night and weekend brunch."

Yelper Heather B. noted, "So good. So far I've had the steak sandwich and the chicken salad, and both were excellent. It's obvious how much pride and care go into all aspects. You will not be disappointed with anything you order."

Piece Of Meat is open from 11 a.m.–8 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, 11 a.m.–9 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m.–9 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m.–4 p.m. on Sunday. (It's closed on Wednesday.)

Echo's

Echo's is serving up pizza, sandwiches, appetizers and more just a couple blocks away from Comiskey Park. 

The bill of fare at this joint includes a selection of pizzas with toppings like chorizo, fresh mozzarella, lamb sausage, arugula and braised greens; appetizers like beer-battered zucchini, oysters and fried rice balls stuffed with tomato and mozzarella; and sandwiches with options like gravlax, meatballs, chorizo, fermented chiles, prosciutto and house-made bacon.

Yelpers are excited about Echo's, which currently holds 4.5 stars out of 35 reviews on the site.

"The heavens opened up and dropped this gem on us," Yelper Whitney S. wrote. "I love pizza, but I don't love New Orleans pizza, and the pizza here was just so tasty that when it was gone, I shed a tear."

Yelper Maddy M. noted, "It's a beautiful space that feels clean, modern and trendy. The beer-battered zucchini stole the show for me, but the house salad was delightful and fresh. I suggest stopping by if you're in the neighborhood. It was a good time and I enjoyed the food."
