Topping the list is Millie's Homemade Ice Cream, a spot to score ice cream, frozen yogurt and sandwiches. Located at 232 S. Highland Ave., it's the highest rated business in the neighborhood, boasting 4.5 stars out of 271 reviews on Yelp.
"Millie's offers some of the creamiest ice cream I've ever had, And you gotta love their made-in-house waffle cone," wrote Yelper Byron W.
"Had the hazelnut chocolate, which was absolutely delicious," added Ashley S. "They have a few staples, plus a few seasonal flavors, which are also very good."
"This is apparently the spot to go to for ice cream in Shadyside," wrote Mike M. "The smells coming from this place from the homemade waffle cones are heavenly."
2. Choolaah Indian Bbq

Next up is Indian spot Choolaah Indian BBQ, situated at 6144 Centre Ave. With 4.5 stars out of 171 reviews on Yelp, it's a proven local favorite.

"The food is delicious and the atmosphere is great. You're paying for quality ingredients and fresh food. I've had the lamb, salmon, and chicken and all were fantastically cooked and had tons of flavor. Their sauce bar is also great. Lots to choose from. The freshly made drinks pair great with the food."
3. Senyai Thai Kitchen

Thai spot Senyai Thai Kitchen, which offers seafood and noodles, is another top choice. Yelpers give the business, located at 5865 Ellsworth Ave., 4.5 stars out of 127 reviews.
"Senyai has become our go-to place for Thai food in Pittsburgh, even though we have to drive a good bit for it," wrote Yelper Adam W.
"Senyai Thai has really incredibly tasty food with a range of flavors, textures and freshness that are welcome, especially on hot summer days," added Eden M.
"I have been on the hunt for some great Thai food after going to Thailand and Senyai Thai kitchen did not disappoint," wrote Kelly A. "The space is very unique and the ceiling is one of a kind."
4. Casbah

Casbah, a cocktail bar and Greek and Mediterranean spot, is another neighborhood go-to, with four stars out of 367 Yelp reviews. Head over to 229 S. Highland Ave. to see for yourself.
"There's outdoor seating that's covered by a canvas, eliciting a Moroccan vibe. Really great atmosphere," wrote Amy F.

5. Girasole Restaurant

Finally, check out Girasole Restaurant, which has earned four stars out of 325 reviews on Yelp. You can find the Italian spot at 733 Copeland St.
"One of the best Italian restaurants in the area," wrote Yelper Amy F.
"So far, this is my favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh," added Alexandra D. "I ordered the pumpkin ravioli and it was delicious."
