Topping the list is cocktail bar and New American spot Chartreuse, which offers tapas and more. Located at 15 E. Kirby St., Suite D, it's the highest rated business in the neighborhood, boasting 4.5 stars out of 479 reviews on Yelp.

On the lunch menu, options include beef tartare, twice-cooked eggs, lobster fried rice and halibut. For dinner, look for pork belly, grilled octopus, duck confit or roasted chicken. Appetizers and desserts are also on offer. Take a look at the full menu here.

2. Kresge Court at Detroit Institute of Arts

Another top choice is casual cafe Kresge Court, which is located at 5200 Woodward Ave. inside the Detroit Institute of Arts. Diners do not have to pay admission to visit the eatery, which Yelpers give 4.5 stars out of 42 reviews.

The cafe features beer, wine, coffee, charcuterie, snacks, sandwiches, salads and more, all from within the museum's sun-drenched courtyard. On Friday evenings, Kresge Court offers a variety of tapas and a full bar with specialty drinks, according to its website.

3. Busted

Shopping for new lingerie? Busted at 15 E. Kirby St., Suite A, has you covered. A lingerie store that caters to women of all sizes, it has earned 4.5 stars out of 30 reviews on Yelp. 

Founder and owner Lee Padgett entered the Hatch Detroit contest in 2013 to see if there was interest from the community in a new bra shop. According to Busted's website, there was. The store offers personalized fittings and carries bras in cups AAA through N in sizes 26-56. Everyday, sport, nursing, plunge, wire-free and backless bras are available.

4. Fourteen East

Finally, there's Fourteen East, a local favorite with four stars out of 57 reviews. Stop by 15 E. Kirby St. at the historic Park Shelton building to hit up the cafe and art gallery next time you're in the neighborhood.

The business combines owner Joanne Czerny's passion for coffee and art, according to Fourteen East's website, by showcasing local artists and working with local suppliers to offer up specialty brew options like coffee, cappuccino, espresso, tea and freshly baked goods.
