My Brother's Keeper DC: Volunteer Recruitment Fair

Looking to lend a hand in the community? Then don't miss My Brother's Keeper one-day volunteer recruitment fair this Wednesday afternoon. More than 60 nonprofit and government agencies will gather at Walter E. Washington Convention Center to share opportunities for prospective mentors, tutors, coaches and pro-bono consultants to work with young boys and men of color.

Tour of 'Marking the Infinite:' Contemporary Women Artists From Aboriginal Australia

This Thursday night, join Friends of Millennium Arts Salon for a tour of "Marking the Infinite," an exhibition by contemporary women Aboriginal artists from Australia at The Phillips Collection. Dr. Klaus Ottman, curator-at-large and director of the UMD Center for the Study of Art and Knowledge at The Phillips Collection, will lead the free public tour.

Martin Luther King, Jr. 'I Have a Dream' 55th Anniversary Walking Tour

August 28 marks the 55th anniversary of the “I Have a Dream" speech, which Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered at the Lincoln Memorial during the 1963 “March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom.” In remembrance, join Washington, DC History & Culture for a free guided walking tour this Saturday morning honoring the life and legacy of Dr. King. The group will pay visit to the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial and listen to the ”I Have a Dream” speech in its entirety at the very spot it was delivered.

When: Saturday, August 25, 9-11:30 a.m.

For the third year in a row, the Buy Melanin Expo pops up in D.C. Patrons will shop one-of-a-kind goods — including clothing, accessories, food, and health and beauty products — from more than 30 black-owned businesses.
