Fornicolli's is a pizza parlor located at 1538 Light St. in South Baltimore. The project of chef Mark Dunaway has some dine-in seating, but is focused on delivery and carryout food.

On the menu (which you can view and order from at the restaurant's website), diners will find customizable pizzas, by the slice or whole, and sandwiches ranging from a ribeye cheesesteak to a pepperoni pizza sub. Slices are made fresh, and whole pies have around 20 different toppings to choose from.

With just one review on Yelp so far giving it four stars, Fornicolli's is still in its early days.

"We got a large cheese pizza with sausage, mushrooms, roasted tomatoes and sweet peppers," wrote Yelper Max R., who reviewed Fornicolli's on August 25. "The pizza was very good with plenty of cheese and good sauce... Service was excellent once we were there as both managers were very friendly."

Fornicolli's is open from 4 p.m.–midnight Sunday-Thursday and 4 p.m.–2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.

GDL Italian by Giada is a new restaurant from Food Network celebrity chef and cookbook author Giada de Laurentiis. Located inside the Horseshoe Casino Baltimore at 1525 Russell St., it's helmed by executive chef Brian Drosenos, as the Washington Post reports.

Although there are plenty of classic Italian dishes like chicken parmesan and campanelle with spicy pomodoro, mascarpone, and shrimp, the menu also includes regional touches like the crab cakes arancini: deep-fried lump crab and rice meatballs with aioli. (You can check out the full food menu here.)

At the bar, the extensive red and white wine lists hew closely to Italian and California offerings, while signature cocktails include The Card Player, a nod to the casino location with Hennessy cognac, amaretto and fresh pineapple juice. For dessert, look for the brownie sundae affogatto, with espresso fudge.

With a four-star rating out of 42 reviews on Yelp, the new eatery has been getting positive attention.

Yelper Rose D. called the crab arancini and burrata "Out of this world," and said that of the pork chop, chicken parmesan, campanelle with shrimp, lasagna, broccoli rabe and smashed potatoes entrees, "The chicken and the campanelle were my personal faves, but everything was good."

"The service was amazing and the ambiance was excellent. This place is stunning!" Yelper Kendra R. wrote, "My favorite was the mushroom pizza topped with fresh arugula. It was absolutely delicious."

GDL Italian is open from 5 p.m.–10 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday and 5 p.m.–midnight on Friday and Saturday. (It's closed on Monday and Tuesday.)

Italian Disco

Italian Disco is a retro disco-themed bar offering signature cocktails and comfort-food classics of Italian cuisine from its space in downtown Baltimore's historic Bagby building. It's the project of chef Julian Maruccia and the Atlas Group of restaurants, which also owns its neighbor Tagliata.

As we recently reported, the restaurant features an elevated DJ booth and a jukebox loaded with dance hits from the 70s and 80s.

The handmade pastas include ricotta-filled ravioli and blackened chicken ziti, while pizza lovers will find offerings like the Maryland crab pizza with zucchini flowers. (You can check out the full menu here; the eatery provides online ordering for delivery through GrubHub.)

With a four-star Yelp rating out of 23 reviews on Yelp, Italian Disco has encountered a positive reception from patrons.

"All the food was phenomenal," wrote Yelper Alaena M., who was one of the first users to visit the disco on August 22. "The peppers were perfectly stuffed with prosciutto and mozzarella. The meatballs seasoned to perfection and plated with a delightful sauce."

"Disco fries were delish, sausage pizza had thin crust and just enough sausage, peppers and onions," Yelper Kellie S. added. "At 9 p.m. the disco lights turned on and 80s videos were on the TV. My husband was in heaven!"

Italian Disco is open from 11 a.m.–midnight Sunday-Tuesday and 11 a.m.–2 a.m. on Wednesday-Saturday.
