A man was shot and taken to an area hospital Sunday, where he was pronounced dead after suffering several gunshot wounds at the 1274 at Towson apartment complex in the 8700 block of Mylander Lane, according to Baltimore County Police. Officers responded to the scene, and as of Sunday afternoon, investigators said they had no suspect information and had released no additional details about what led to the shooting.
According to WMAR-2 News, the victim was transported to an area hospital and pronounced dead following the shooting, and officials described the investigation as ongoing.
The 1274 at Towson complex sits just off East Joppa Road and is described as an apartment community by Apartment List. The 8700 block of Mylander Lane has drawn police attention before; in May 2019, Baltimore County officers investigated a carjacking on the same block after a suspect confronted a victim around 9 a.m. and stole a vehicle, per CBS Baltimore.
A Precinct Already Stretched Thin This Year
The shooting falls under the jurisdiction of Baltimore County Police Precinct 6, the Towson Precinct headquartered at 115 West Susquehanna Avenue, per Baltimore County Government records. Countywide Violence Trending Down, But Not Gone
The Mylander Lane shooting comes even as Baltimore County has posted five-year lows in gun violence. Non-fatal shootings countywide fell more than 45% to 41 incidents in 2025, while homicides dropped 49% to 28, according to The Baltimore Sun. Police officials attributed the decline to targeted enforcement and community prevention efforts, the paper reported.
Investigators in the county also solved 39 of those 41 non-fatal shootings last year, a 95% clearance rate, alongside a 93% clearance rate for homicides, per the same Baltimore Sun reporting. Statewide, non-fatal shootings dropped more than 50% and homicides fell more than 40%, according to the Office of Governor Wes Moore.
Locally, Towson has seen isolated incidents like Sunday's shooting, which continue to unsettle residents of apartment communities in the area.
