Brome Modern Eatery
607 Shelby St., Suite 100, Downtown
Brome Modern Eatery serves up burgers and sides, along with salads and milkshakes.
The shop uses grass-fed organic beef in burgers like the Wild Mushroom, with mushrooms, Swiss cheese, arugula and braised onions; or Dante's Heaven, with turkey bacon, ghost pepper jack cheese, braised onion, cherry pepper relish and sweet habanero. The standard bun is gluten free, and there are vegetarian and vegan burger options, as well. The salads are meal-sized, and sides include fresh takes on fries and tots.
Milkshake flavors run from Madagascar vanilla bean to salted caramel.
Brome Modern Eatery currently holds 4.5 stars out of 45 reviews on Yelp, indicating good reviews.
Yelper Allyson T., who was one of the first users to visit Brome Modern Eatery on July 25, wrote, "The menu is simple but delicious. I love when a smaller menu is still difficult to choose from because everything looks good! They have lots of greenery on the ceiling, ample seating, and they participate in a tree planting initiative so they track the number of trees planted."
Pam T. noted, "All in all, a solid place to stop and get a burger and a side. Prices were comparable and flavor was better than some of the other burger joints downtown."
Brome Modern Eatery is open from 10:30 a.m.–8 p.m. on Monday-Thursday, 10:30 a.m.–10 p.m. on Friday, 11 a.m.–10 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m.–8 p.m. on Sunday.
Applebee's Grill + Bar
333 E. Jefferson Ave., Downtown
Applebee's Grill + Bar has landed in the Courtyard Hotel downtown.
Part of a new mashup with IHOP, as Eater reports, the international sports bar and traditional American diner has burgers like the Whisky Bacon Burger, with caramelized onion and bacon inside an all-beef patty topped with pepper jack cheese, crispy onions, bacon and a whisky-infused steak sauce; and the Quesadilla Burger, which comes with Mexican-style ranch sauce, bacon, pico de gallo and lettuce inside a jack and cheddar quesadilla.
The rest of the menu runs for several pages, and includes everything from mozzarella sticks to a hot fudge sundae.
Applebee's Grill + Bar currently holds a one-star rating Yelp, with its first two reviewers lamenting its customer service.
Applebee's Grill + Bar is open from 6:30 a.m.–midnight on weekdays and 7 a.m.–midnight on weekends.
IHOP

Finally, though IHOP is known for its breakfasts, it also has burgers.
As we mentioned above, this new outlet operates in concert with Applebee's in the Courtyard hotel building. Dubbed "Ihoplebee's" by some, it offers hamburger options like a spicy jalapeño burger — one with Swiss cheese and mushrooms and another topped with onion rings and barbecue sauce. And in an effort to bridge the burger/breakfast divide, it serves up a sandwich with a beef patty, egg and hash browns.
Of course, IHOP still serves pancakes, waffles and French toast in a variety of formats. And patrons sitting on either side of the divide can order from the IHOP or Applebee's menus.
With a 3.5-star rating out of 11 reviews on Yelp, IHOP is still finding its way, but it's early days.
Yelper Jeff C. wrote, "The location is excellent, right across from the RenCen, a couple of blocks from Campus Martius, and near the Riverwalk. Lunch and breakfast buffets are available. Combining both brands together opens the menu up for customers to select breakfast or dinner options — or a combination of both."
Keilab. A. noted, "The food came out within 10 minutes and was a very good portion. The omelette was delicious. Everything was up to standard, and our server made our time here worth five stars."
IHOP is open from 6:30 a.m.–11 p.m. daily.
