Ridley's sandwich list includes roasted chicken, turkey with coleslaw and Swiss cheese; and roast beef with cheddar and horseradish. Paninis include a tuna melt, turkey reuben, and applewood bacon, tomato and cheese. There are vegetarian options, as well, including a panini with roasted eggplant, zucchini, asparagus, mushrooms, red and green pepper, tomatoes, romano cheese, fresh basil and low-fat Swiss.
2. Breakaway Deli

Next up is Breakaway Deli, situated at 61 W. Long Lake. With 4.5 stars out of 65 reviews on Yelp, it has proven to be a local favorite for those looking for a budget-friendly option.
In business since 1989, the deli lets you design your own sandwich from a long list of meats, veggies, cheeses and dressings. Or choose from their designs: turkey breast, Swiss cheese, coleslaw and Russian dressing on rye, for example, or a corned beef and pastrami blend with Swiss cheese, coleslaw and Russian dressing on pumpernickel. Breakaway Deli also has vegetarian options, like one with havarti and cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and cucumber with sour cream dill dressing on seedless rye.
3. Alex's Royall Grill

Alex's Royall Grill, located at 2495 Livernois Road, is another top choice, with Yelpers giving it 4.5 stars out of 45 reviews. You'll find sandwich favorites like corned beef with Swiss on rye, deli-style turkey, and grilled cheese, plus alternatives like the turkey reuben and Icelandic cod fish sandwich. Other handhelds include burgers, quesadillas, pitas and subs. The rest of the menu includes salads, stir fries and breakfast dishes.
4. Grand Traverse Pie Company

Finally, there's the Grand Traverse Pie Company, which has earned four stars out of 64 reviews on Yelp. While known for made-fresh pies from apple to blueberry, the cafe in Troy also does soups, salads, pot pies, quiches and, of course, sandwiches. Examples of the latter include the baked chicken breast and cherrywood-smoked bacon focaccia; and smoked ham, havarti cheese, cherry apple butter and spicy mustard on an herbed baguette.
