Wondering where to find the best pubs near you?
Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top joints in Detroit, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of where to fill the bill.

Topping the list is the Jolly Pumpkin Pizzeria and Brewery. Located at 441 W. Canfield, Suite 9 in Midtown, the traditional American spot is the highest rated pub in Detroit, boasting four stars out of 384 reviews on Yelp.
Established in 2015, this Michigan-based chain offers up eclectic pub fare, matched with signature ales, spirits and more.
On the menu, look for starters, sandwiches and salads, along with specialty pizzas like the South Pacific — a pie topped with bacon, candied pineapples, jalapeños, shaved red onion, chipotle tomato sauce, black sesame seeds, scallions and mozzarella cheese.
Round out your meal with one of the bar's signature sour ales or a pint of oak barrel-aged house saison. (See the full menu here.)
2. Honest John's Bar & Grill

Next up is Midtown's Honest John's Bar & Grill, situated at 488 Selden St. With four stars out of 367 reviews on Yelp, the pub has proven to be a local favorite.

3. Tom's Tavern

Tom's Tavern, located at 10093 W. 7 Mile Road, is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the pub, dive bar and traditional American spot five stars out of 35 reviews.
Yelpers praise the neighborhood pub's friendly and family-like atmosphere, inexpensive drinks, non-internet jukebox and Prohibition era vibe.
"When it comes to neighborhood bars, this one is as good as it gets," wrote Yelper Angela S. "It's absolutely classic. Even the grumpiest grump will have a blast here. Don't be afraid! It really is open, despite appearances. Knock on the door and prepare to feel like family."
4. Jacoby's German Biergarten

Jacoby's German Biergarten, a pub and German spot in downtown Detroit, is another go-to, with four stars out of 246 Yelp reviews. Head over to 624 Brush St. to see for yourself.
Founded in 1904 by married couple Albert P. and Minnie Jacoby, the longstanding establishment has survived the ages, maintaining the same traditions set forth by the husband and wife team over a hundred years earlier, explains the business on its website.
On the menu, expect to find authentic German dishes like schinitzel and rouladen, along with an extensive selection of beers from across the world. (Take a look at the menu here.)
5. Eastern Market Brewing Company

Last but not least, check out Eastern Market Brewing Company, which has earned 4.5 stars out of 55 reviews on Yelp. You can find the brewery and pub at 2515 Riopelle St.
The community-focused craft brewery is situated in the heart of Detroit's Eastern Market and features a variety of craft brews, including stouts, IPAs and blood orange wheat.
Yelper Jacob F., who reviewed the outpost on June 25, wrote, "Why do you go to a brewery? The beer. So let's start there. I haven't disliked anything I've tried, and that's been plenty. The tap list is constantly rotating through winner after winner, so there's really no chance that you won't like at least one or two. These are no amateur/young brewery attempts; these are fully developed, thoughtful beers."
