Topping the list is the family-owned Casa de Tamales. Located at 609 E. Olive Ave. in Tower District, the Mexican spot is the highest-rated restaurant with vegetarian fare in Fresno, boasting 4.5 stars out of 208 reviews on Yelp.

Offering both classic and modern fusion dishes, the restaurant makes its tamales in-house from locally grown, non-GMO corn. On the menu, vegetarian options include tamales like spinach and artichoke with potatoes in a creamy vegan sauce; portobello and asparagus sautéed with guajillo chiles; and jalapeño and cheese. Tamales with chicken, pork and shredded beef are also available.

Finish off your meal with the triple chocolate cake or the sweet corn tamale topped with chipotle honey or caramel sauce. (Find the full menu here.)
