Looking to try the top distilleries around?

Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the best distilleries in Detroit, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of where to venture next time you're on the hunt.

1. Detroit City Distillery

Topping the list is Detroit City Distillery. Located at 2462 Riopelle St. in Detroit's Eastern Market, the cocktail spot is the highest-rated distillery in the city, boasting 4.5 stars out of 141 reviews on Yelp.

Calling upon the entrepreneurial spirit of Prohibition-era Detroit, eight childhood friends began this small distillery with plans to create alcohol the old-fashioned way.

Expect to find small-batch artisanal whiskey, gin and vodka, including limited edition and experimental spirits. (You can check out the spot's current collection and cocktail menu here.)

2. Two James Spirits

Next up is Corktown's Two James Spirits, situated at 2445 Michigan Ave. With four stars out of 211 reviews on Yelp, the distillery has proven to be a local favorite.

It comes courtesy of David Landrum, a native of the metro area with an ambition to create a spirit to call his own — a unique small batch "that is made grain to bottle, with local ingredients and lots of love," says the distillery on its website.

Come over to the Michigan Avenue tasting room for a creative cocktail, such as a refreshing Moscow mule with 28 Island vodka or The Vessel, which consists of Grass Widow bourbon, Peychaud bitters and vanilla-maple foam. (You can view the full menu here.)

3. Our/Detroit

Hubbard-Richard's Our/Detroit, located at 2545 Bagley St., is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the small distillery four stars out of 19 reviews.

This is the second member of the Our/Vodka family (after Our/Berlin), and is considered to be the first micro-distillery in the United States, the company says on its website.

Created using locally sourced ingredients, Our/Detroit vodka has a mild taste with a soft and fruity undertone. Stop by the distillery's tasting room to check it out for yourself.  (You can also buy some at the online shop here.)
