1. Sister Pie

Topping the list is bakery Sister Pie, which offers desserts, coffee, tea and more. Located at 8066 Kercheval St., it's the highest-rated business in the neighborhood, boasting 4.5 stars out of 185 reviews on Yelp. It was named one of the "Midwest's 38 Essential Restaurants" by Eater Travel last year.

Next up is soul food spot Detroit Vegan Soul, situated at 8029 Agnes St. With four stars out of 329 reviews on Yelp, it's proven to be a local favorite. Initially established in 2012 as a meal delivery and catering service, the restaurant aims to make good and healthy food accessible to everyone.
Now with a second brick-and-mortar location, expect notable menu options such as black-eyed pea hummus, barbecue tofu with kale and potato salad and the Soul Platter: stir-fry with peppers, onions, garlic and ginger served with brown rice and sesame broccoli. Here's the menu.

Cocktail bar and New American spot Craft Work, which offers seafood and more, is another top choice. Yelpers give the business, located at 8047 Agnes St., four stars out of 213 reviews.
This spot features a raw bar with beef tartare, ahi tuna and daily oyster offerings, as well as a dining room with a number of entrees and libations.
