1. O Ya

Topping the list is Japanese restaurant O Ya. Called one of Boston's best restaurants by Conde Nast Traveler, you'll find an upscale spot for sushi, sashimi and other Japanese dishes. Order a la carte, or put yourself in the hand's of the chef for an omakase approach to the offerings. Sample menu items include nigiri like the house-smoked wagyu beef with yuzu soy sauce, and the bluefish sashimi with rainbow trout roe, wasabi vinaigrette and micro celery. Located at 9 E. St. Place, it's the highest rated business in the neighborhood, boasting 4.5 stars out of 648 reviews on Yelp.
2. The Corner Pub

Next up is The Corner Pub, situated at 162 Lincoln St. It's a neighborhood spot — OK, a dive bar — serving both food and drinks. Its food specialty is egg rolls, which come in varieties such as steak and cheese, sweet chili pork and shepherd's pie. There are also burgers, wraps and pizza. The full bar includes numerous craft beers on tap. With 4.5 stars out of 97 reviews on Yelp, it's proven to be a local favorite.
3. La Colombe Coffee

Next, La Colombe Coffee is another top choice. The coffee for this mostly East Coast chain comes from the company's Philadelphia roastery. Coffee ranges from light roasts from Ethiopia and Guatemala, for example, to a bolder, dark African blend. Buy whole beans to take home, or grab a cup and pair with one of the pastries or other snacks on hand. Yelpers give La Colombe Coffee, located at 745 Atlantic Ave., 4.5 stars out of 77 reviews.
4. 9tailors

9tailors is another neighborhood go-to, with 4.5 stars out of 74 Yelp reviews. It provides custom-made shirts and suits. Clients, whether singly or in groups, come to the store to get fitted, consult with style experts, and choose fabrics and the final look. Tailors in its Hong Kong workshop then produce the final product for shipping in around four to five weeks. Head over to 132 Lincoln St., Suite 1L, to see for yourself.
5. The Kitchen Cafe

Finally, check out The Kitchen Cafe, which has earned 4.5 stars out of 69 reviews on Yelp. It offers coffee, breakfast and lunch in an open-plan, bi-level space. Start the day with egg sandwiches, omelets or avocado toast alongside coffee options that include Stumptown's nitro cold brew. The lunch menu includes a number of salads, like the Sorrento with grilled chicken, roasted red peppers, pepperoncini and feta cheese, plus sandwiches and wraps. You can find it at 104 South St.
