In search of a new favorite jazz and blues spot?

Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top venues for jazz and blues around San Antonio, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of where to enjoy some soulful tunes.

1. SoHo Wine & Martini Bar

Topping the list is SoHo Wine & Martini Bar. Located downtown at 214 W. Crockett St., the lounge and cocktail bar is the highest-rated jazz and blues spot in San Antonio, boasting 4.5 stars out of 428 reviews on Yelp.

The establishment features live jazz every Wednesday night. It also has an extensive menu of specialty cocktails, including the Great Scott, Elijah's Railcar, Billy's Afterlife, the Black Widow and more.

Yelper Jenny P. wrote, "My favorite place in San Antonio so far! This place had great jazz music and an awesome drink selection. I highly recommend."

2. Jazz TX

Next up is Tobin Hill's Jazz TX, situated at 312 Pearl Parkway, Building 6, Suite 6001, in the cellar of the Bottling House at the historic Pearl Brewery. With four stars out of 120 reviews on Yelp, the hot spot for live music has proven to be a local favorite. 

It has two nightly shows, one at 5:30 p.m. and another at 8:30 p.m. You can see its calendar here if you'd like to see who's scheduled to play. Its menu includes both large and small plates, shareable appetizers, cocktails and draft beers. (See the menu here.)

Yelper Palmer B. said, "This spot is marvelous. Big band led by the owner on piano. Modern and intimate yet spacious subterranean joint with responsive service and attentive barkeepers. Great place for a date."

3. Carmens de la Calle

Downtown's Carmens de la Calle, located at 320 N. Flores St., is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the music venue, cafe and jazz and blues spot four stars out of 41 reviews.

It has jazz night on Thursday, as well as Flamenco Friday and Global Saturday. The menu offers a globally inspired selection that updates regularly. You'll see dishes like the chimichurri steak and potatoes, the pollo mojo verde bowl and the picadillo empanada.

Melissa L. wrote, "Food is fantastic, music is even better! What a downtown gem. Get the specialty of the house, the steak chimichurri. Bursting with flavor, super tender. Great balance between sauce and meat."
