In the mood for Southern fare? Look no further than this new restaurant. Called Walter's Southern Kitchen, the new addition is located at 4501 Butler St. in Lawrenceville.
The menu offers smoked meats, tacos, sandwiches and specialty mac and cheese. Options include both fatty and lean brisket, pork belly and smoked chicken, which you can complement with a side of collard greens, potato salad or slaw. You can also stack meats on a sandwich or get them in taco form.
Mac and cheese dishes include the classic with New York sharp cheddar, béchamel sauce and garlic breadcrumbs, and the Royal De Cheese (iceburg lettuce, pickles, beef and cheddar). (See the full menu here.)
With a 3.5-star rating out of 49 reviews on Yelp so far, Walter's Southern Kitchen is off to a solid start.
Yelper James W., who reviewed it on Sept. 30, wrote, "This place is top notch! ... There's a huge outdoor seating area with plenty to keep you occupied. Great beers on tap and a solid bourbon selection. Don't skimp on the mac and cheese!"
