
Every year, at least since 1994, people have been celebrating World Vegan Day on November 1. That being said, you don't have to be a strict vegan to enjoy Pittsburgh's vegan fare.
Fortunately, there are plenty of options from which to choose. To help, Hoodline combed through Yelp data and applied our own secret sauce to come up with the best vegan destinations in Pittsburgh.
1. B52 Cafe

Topping the list is B52 Cafe. Located at 5202 Butler St. in Upper Lawrenceville, the Middle Eastern eatery, which offers coffee and tea, is the highest rated spot for vegan fare in Pittsburgh, boasting 4.5 stars out of 194 reviews on Yelp.
On the menu, you'll find a large selection of seitan dishes, including the shawarma with shaved seitan, romaine, onion, pickled turnip, pickles and tahini sauce. B52 Cafe also offers homemade sodas and kombucha with seasonal flavors.
2. Onion Maiden

Next up is Allentown's Onion Maiden, situated at 639 E. Warrington Ave. With 4.5 stars out of 99 reviews on Yelp, the vegan and Asian fusion spot has proven to be a local favorite.
In addition to Onion Maiden's vegan curry and pho dishes, the menu also features a selection of veggie hot dogs, tots and nachos with cashew cheese. Try the Hang Ten dog with barbecue sauce, jalapeno pineapple relish and caramelized onions.

3. The Zenith

The Zenith, located at 86 S. 26th St. on the South Side, is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the vegetarian and vegan cafe four stars out of 182 reviews.
Choose between vegan and gluten-free wraps, salads and breakfast options. Stop by for Sunday brunch and try the Vegan Cinnamon French Toast or the Vegan Jalapeno Hummus Wrap with shredded lettuce, green peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes and onions.
The Zenith also sells antique items and holds weekly events.
Yelper Abby L. wrote, "The Zenith is one of my favorite brunch spots ever. Not only is the food fantastic, but the restaurant doubles as a unique antique shop and there are tons of things to look at."
4. Gluten Free Goat Bakery

Gluten Free Goat Bakery in Garfield is another much-loved go-to, with 4.5 stars out of 52 Yelp reviews. Head over to 4905 Penn Ave. to see for yourself.
Stop by for brunch and try the Falafel Waffle with roasted veggies, hummus and vegan tzatziki. The Gluten Free Goat Bakery also accepts holiday orders for pies, cookies and doughnuts.

5. Gluuteny Bakery

Then there's Gluuteny Bakery, which has earned four stars out of 96 reviews on Yelp. You can find the gluten-free bakery with extensive vegan offerings at 1923 Murray Ave. in Squirrel Hill.
Gluuteny Bakery offers a large selection of dairy-free, vegan and gluten-free items that are available in store and on its website. Try the almond doughnut, barely naked chocolate cupcake, bagels and gingersnaps. In addition to holiday-themed cakes, pies, doughnuts and cookies, this bakery also offers its own gluten-free mixes.
