A new restaurant has debuted in the neighborhood. Located at 34977 Woodward Ave., the fresh addition is called Hazel, Ravines & Downtown.

Based in downtown Birmingham, the concept-restaurant was opened in October by co-owners Beth Hussey and Emmele Herrold (the former owners of Eyed Betty's and Pop's for Italian in Ferndale). This marks their third restaurant venture together.

Hazel, Ravines & Downtown (HRD) is a casual eatery that features international food; it has a space of 120 seats, an outside patio and a convenience store that serves as a “grab-and-go market.”

From grilled cheese and tomato soup to French tacos, there’s a little bit of everything available on the menu. Looking for brunch? The Good Morning Bowl, made of salmon, avocado, capers, red onion, cream cheese, cucumber and tomato is a standout option. Add a brunch beer consisting of Hefeweissen and orange juice.

Look out for other unique dishes like the Argentine Asado For Two, which is made of empanada, choripán, beef, pork, veggies, sauce and bread. HRD also has a diverse list of cocktails, wine and beer that are sourced from various parts of Michigan and around the world.

With a 4.5-star rating out of 13 reviews on Yelp so far, Hazel, Ravines & Downtown has already made a good impression.

Bill R., who reviewed the new spot on Nov. 5, wrote, "The menu has a lot to offer meat eaters and vegetarians. Our table got the spicy wings, Georgian bread, oysters, burger, wedge salad and roasted carrots. The drinks were fun and I liked the little store for grab and go-beer and snacks."

Yelper Therese P. added, “I loved the seafood station. I also loved the seafood tower appetizer. The oysters made my night!”

Interested? Stop by to welcome the new business to the neighborhood. Hazel, Ravines & Downtown is open from 7 a.m.–midnight daily.
