
Crime incidents in Anaheim saw an overall increase last week, after a previous decline, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources. Incidents rose to 456 for the week of December 10, up from 405 the week before.
The overall increase in crime reports was led by assault and theft. Assault rose to 38 incidents last week, from 27 the week before. Theft went from 40 to 48. Reports of assault have continued to grow for the last two weeks.

While somewhat smaller categories, there was also a considerable percentage increase in robbery, from three incidents per week to five, and in vandalism, from 17 to 20 incidents.
Among the few types of offenses that saw a downturn last week, reports of burglary went from 96 to 77.

There were 251 reports of "other" crimes, an increase of 35 from the previous week. SpotCrime's broad "other" category includes a variety of offenses like fraud, trespassing, public disturbance and traffic violations. SpotCrime data also indicates that 17 arrests were made last week, up from six arrests the week before.
Looking at crime patterns in different areas of the city, Northwest Anaheim, West Anaheim and Southwest Anaheim had the most reported incidents last week. West Anaheim and Southwest Anaheim were at the top of the list the previous week as well.
Northwest Anaheim experienced the highest growth in crime. Crime reports in Southwest Anaheim also rose for a fourth week, and incidents in Anaheim Hills are up considerably as well.
Regarding day and time factors, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays witnessed the most reported crimes last week. The largest increase from the previous week occurred on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, while incidents on Tuesdays and Fridays went down. Evening, late morning and midday saw the most crime last week.
