Crime incidents in Anaheim saw an overall increase last week, for the second week in a row, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources. Incidents rose to 479 for the week of Dec. 17, up from 457 the week before.

The offenses that increased the most were theft and burglary. Theft rose to 67 incidents last week, from 49 the week before. Burglary went from 77 to 92. Reports of theft have continued to grow for the last two weeks.

While a somewhat smaller category, there was also a percentage increase in vandalism, from 20 incidents per week to 21.

There was one reported arson last week. That represents a steady state from the previous week.

Among the few types of offenses that saw a downturn last week, reports of assault went from 38 to 19, and robbery fell from five to three.

There were 263 reports of "other" crimes, an increase of 12 from the previous week. SpotCrime's broad "other" category includes a variety of offenses like fraud, trespassing, public disturbance and traffic violations. SpotCrime data also indicates that 13 arrests were made last week, down from 17 arrests the week before.

Considering the concentration of crime across the city, West Anaheim, Northwest Anaheim and Southeast Anaheim had the most reported incidents last week. West Anaheim and Northwest Anaheim were at the top of the list the previous week as well.

West Anaheim saw the largest increase. Crime reports in Anaheim Resort also rose for a second week, and incidents in the Colony are up considerably as well.

Regarding when most crimes are committed, Fridays, Thursdays and Tuesdays witnessed the most crime incidents last week. The largest increase from the previous week occurred on Fridays, Tuesdays and Mondays, while incidents on Saturdays, Thursdays and Wednesdays went down. Late morning, midday and late afternoon saw the most crime last week.
