David W., who reviewed it on Nov. 28, said, "Kettle Black is a cool Irish/English pub in downtown Phoenix with a good menu and nice happy hour. The pub is well designed with a bar that runs the length of the restaurant. My wife had the fish and chips (house specialty) and I went with the black bean burger."
2. The Arrogant Butcher

Next up is Central City's The Arrogant Butcher, situated at 2 E. Jefferson St., Suite 150. With four stars out of 2,034 reviews on Yelp, the gastropub and New American spot, serving seafood and more, has proven to be a local favorite.
Drop in and enjoy its crispy shrimp or grilled chicken club, or celebrate this month with its special New Year's Eve dinner menu, which features smoked salmon, filet mignon, baked rigatoni and, of course, a glass of champagne.
Aaron F. said, "Artistic presentation with first rate foodie inspired eats. Go for a salad and stay for dessert."

And for those who love brunch, stop by on Saturday and Sunday for a mouthful of chilaquiles, plantain brulee cornmeal pancakes or coconut french toast.
