
Crime incidents in Orange saw an overall decrease last month, after a previous rise, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources.
Incidents fell by about 18 percent, from 310 in November to 254 in December. Crime trends are often seasonal, and some of the most common offenses tend to decline in winter, which might partly explain the most recent downward trend.

Most types of crimes decreased this month, led by vandalism and burglary. Vandalism fell from 16 reported incidents in November to three in December. Burglary incidents went from 66 to 60 for the month, or a 9.1 percent decrease.
There were two shooting reports last month, and six robbery incidents. Shooting incidents remained at about the same level as in the previous month, while robbery reports decreased by one incidents.
Among the few types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, assault reports went from 13 to 16.

Saturdays, Fridays and Mondays produced the most crime incidents. The largest decrease from the previous month occurred on Wednesdays, Fridays and Tuesdays, while incidents on Saturdays, Mondays and went up. Late afternoon, late morning and early afternoon saw the most crime on average each day.
