Shooting and theft led the most recent increase in crime reports. Shootings rose from zero reported incidents in December to three in January. Theft incidents went from 240 to 242 for the month, or a 0.8 percent increase.
While a somewhat smaller category, there was also a considerable percentage increase last month in arson, from one incident per month to two. Arson reports have decreased since the same month last year.
Among the few types of offenses that saw a downturn last month, assault reports went from 120 to 108. Vandalism incidents fell from 68 to 63, and robbery incidents went down from 17 to 13.
